    When establishing a direct deposit on your account, the entity issuing the direct deposit will ask for several items, including the Routing Transit Number and your account number—see example below. Click here for the Direct Deposit Sign-up form.

    To protect yourself from fraud, make sure before giving out your account number that you know the company you are doing business with. This information should only be needed if you are authorizing them to direct deposit to your account.
